Actorul american James Caan, care a jucat rolul gangsterului Sonny Corleone în faimosul film despre Mafia “The Godfather”, a murit la vârsta de 82 de ani, a anunţat familia sa, joi 7 iulie 2022.

Cariera lui Caan s-a întins pe şase decenii şi a inclus o gamă largă de roluri în filme, de la thrillerul pihologic “Misery” la comedia “Elf”. Anul trecut, el a jucat în comedia romantică “Queen Bees”, alături de Ellen Burstyn.

James Edmund Caan s-a născut în Bronx, New York, în 26 martie 1940, într-o familie de emigranţi evrei germani. Fiind unul din trei fraţi, Caan a început să joace în televiziune în 1961. El a fost aclamat de toată lumea pentru rolul în filmul de televiziune din 1971 “Brian’s Song”, în care a jucat rolul fotbalistului de la Chicago Bears Brian Piccolo, care a murit de cancer la 26 de ani. Rolul i-a adus lui Caan o nominalizare la Emmy.
